As Seen at the North Carolina Top Tech Challenge…

Last week, I had the pleasure of attending the third annual North Carolina Trucking Association (NCTA) Top Tech Challenge. There was a great energy at the Dixie Classic Fairgrounds in Winston-Salem, where the event was held on April 27.

Mitchell 1 was running the service information station as we do at many competitions across the U.S. This was our first time attending as a sponsor in North Carolina and it was fantastic!

The competition is growing and had 64 participants this year, almost doubling its numbers from last year. At the service information station, there was a three-way tie, with three participants each scoring 75%. The tie-breaker was their ASE score.

Awards were presented to the top three finalists, based on their overall scores across all the stations. Aaron Burdick of Marysville, NC was the grand champion. He is a senior mechanic at Clarke Power Services, Inc., a commercial vehicle maintenance provider serving the transportation and service industries. He has competed two times at the North Carolina competition and once at the National SuperTech event where he placed 51st out of 140 technicians.

Below are some photos from the event. And here is the schedule of state technician skills competitions where Mitchell 1 will be hosting the information skills testing station.
