Uncover ‘Hidden’ Vehicle Issues with Top 10 Lists

Have you ever thought that there might be more value to a feature than what is obvious? We think our Top 10 lists just happen to be one of those features that provides extra value to uncover “hidden” vehicle issues beyond the obvious popular lookups.

Top 10 – The Basics:  After selecting a vehicle, ProDemand automatically navigates you to the 1Search page with the Top 10 lists across the bottom of the screen.  You can then select a component, code, symptom or lookup from the Top 10 lists provided and ProDemand will navigate you directly to the OEM content.

The lists are arranged based on real-world information. The components, codes and symptoms data is derived from real repair orders. Top lookups are based on the components most frequently searched in ProDemand.

The overall benefit is easy to understand: The Top 10 lists provide quick access to the most popular information in the product, reducing the time you spend looking for information.

Top 10 – Advanced:  An application that you may not have thought of at first is that the Top 10 lists can provide deeper insights to a service writer or technician, allowing them to look for potential issues beyond the problem for which the car has been brought to the shop.

Diving in to the various items from the lists above, we can see that there are a number of related items across the lists. If “Mrs. Jones” comes in for an oil change, the service writer can look over the Top 10 lists and ask a few extra questions before Mrs. Jones leaves. For instance:

  1. Do you notice any colored fluids in the driveway? Have you or anyone had to add any coolant to the vehicle?  (The red underlined items in the graphic below tipped you off to ask these questions.)
  2. Do you hear any screeching noises from under the hood? Is your AC blowing cold?  (See blue underlined items.)
  3. There seems to be a “trend” for lean conditions and EVAP problems. I’ll look at it and let you know what I find. (See green underlined items.)
  4. Have you had any no start or engine stalling issues? (See orange underlined items.)
  5. There are still others that you can delve into – brakes, misfires, etc.

The benefit in this case might not be obvious at first, but with the Top 10 list information, you can quickly make your customer more aware of vehicle issues and maybe even add some work to an existing repair order.
