State competition winners will meet at the national finals June 25-27, 2006, at Ford World Headquarters in Dearborn, Mich. to showcase their automotive technology skills and determine a national championship team.

“Mitchell 1 sponsors the Student Auto Skills national finals every year to help ensure the quality of the next generation of talented, young automotive service technicians.” said Mike McBurney, director, national accounts for Mitchell 1. “In addition to learning the best repair skills, it’s important to educate them on how to access the best repair information in the industry.”

As part of its platinum level sponsorship, Mitchell 1 will present the winning school with a complete set of ASE Test Preparation Guides and automotive training manuals.

“ASE certification is the surest path to a good future in the automotive repair industry and Mitchell’s ASE Test Preparation Series is the best way to prepare for the ASE exams.” said McBurney. “Each edition contains clear, concise instructional information, fact, theory, illustrations, examples, and practice tests written and edited by industry professionals.”

The Student Auto Skills competition encourages talented young people to pursue careers as automotive service technicians. This nationwide competition is open to 11th and 12th grade students in secondary schools and colleges (serving local high schools) that offer courses in automotive technology and have at least one full-time or part-time automotive instructor. Winning teams from the state competitions were awarded an expense-paid trip to the upcoming national finals.
