The vehicle will not drive (forward/reverse), came in towed and has around 115,000 miles.

Diagnostic Steps Performed/Parts Replaced

After plugging in a scan tool, no Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) appeared in the AT module. But in the AWD module, DTC C1871 came up. This pointed to the functional abnormalities of the automatic transmission.

Additionally, the scan tool shows the range selector moving when the shifter moves. The input speed sensor is indicating a speed relatively close to the engine RPM. But the output speed sensor doesn’t move. Found no broken cv axle and there’s no abnormal noise coming from the engine bay.

I thought I would have to replace the entire transmission until I discovered the root cause…SureTrack community member, Skip, helped to identify that if the ISS shows engine RPM while in gear at a stop, the trans is slipping. It should be 0 RPM.

Cause
After opening up the transmission, found the belt was broken.

Correction
Replaced the transmission belt.
