SureTrack community member, schoolhouse2021, had a 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 roll into the shop with the same Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) from a year ago. They posed the question to the community, and with the help of Ericsautomotive and others, they were able to resolve the issue quickly.

Diagnostic Steps Performed/Parts Replaced
Plugged a scan tool into the vehicle and the DTCs P0327 and P0332 appeared for the Knock Sensors. Both knock sensors were replaced a year ago, including the wiring coming from under the intake. After a year, the vehicle is now returning the same code, P0327- Knock Sensor 1 Signal Short/Low, and a new code P0332 – Knock Sensor 2 Signal Short/Low. However, after checking over all the wiring and sensors, no faults were found.

Once the question was posted to the SureTrack community, member Ericsautomotive provided great insight. If the parts used to replace the issue a year ago were after-market Knock Sensors, then there’s a good chance those parts need replacing again due to wear and tear.

Cause
After-market parts were used to fix the P0327 DTC for Knock Sensor 1 a year ago.

Correction
Replaced both Knock Sensors with OEM parts and now the vehicle is running great with no check engine light.
