A few months back, we introduced enhancements to the bookmark feature in our repair information products. While bookmarks aren’t a new concept, at Mitchell 1, we’ve applied an older concept in a fresh, more effective way.
We’ve made bookmarked articles more recognizable across several areas of the program and linked them to specific search terms for easier identification of desired information.
With our advanced bookmarking feature, we’ve made it faster for you to access the information you need. The bookmark icon will now perform two different actions depending on where you click on the Icon.
The first action is clicking the yellow icon in the Vehicle Header.
When looking up a vehicle on the home screen, the bookmark icon will be yellow if a bookmark currently exists for that specific vehicle in your history. By clicking on the yellow bookmark icon, the user will be taken to the Card View page of the first search term bookmarked in the vehicle history. The graphic below is for reference only and illustrates which bookmark will open when the bookmark icon is clicked.
In the example below, the first bookmarked article set for code P0498 is opened in the Card View This demonstrates what will be seen when the icon is selected from the vehicle header.
The second feature is activated from the Card View page. From the card view page of 1Search® Plus, you can easily see which cards contain bookmarks within a section. Instead of selecting the card, click the bookmark icon on the card. Selecting the icon will jump to the first bookmarked article in the selected section.
Now, by clicking directly on the yellow bookmark icon, you will be taken directly to the first bookmarked article within that section.
So now the question is, how does this feature help improve my shop’s productivity? Here are two ideas thatmight help answer that question.
First, large jobs usually require special order parts, which can instantly delay job completion. By bookmarking job data, technicians can reduce lost time spent re-acquiring procedures. All relevant data can be saved for expedient retrieval.
Secondly, do you have a new technician in your shop who is unfamiliar with the program? Is anyone in the shop highly knowledgeable in using the repair program? You can preselect repair information for any job and save it in the history using bookmarks. This allows your apprentices to concentrate on the repair rather than learning the program.
We at Mitchell 1 hope you find some savings and value in this new feature we’ve introduced. We are always interested in your feedback on any part of our repair program.
