The Mitchell 1 Library is a rich resource of automotive history. Even though most of the information is now contained electronically inside ProDemand — just a mouse click away when you’re repairing a vehicle — we keep the books on hand for reference by our editorial and product content support teams.

Walking through the stacks is like stepping back in time. Brightly colored volumes from every era are right at your fingertips. I took a quick stroll recently and these caught my eye: the 1978 Datsun B210, the 1987 Corvette and the 2013 Honda Odyssey, along with books from BMW, Ford, Mercedes, Saturn, Toyota, and Hyundai … and so many others in between.

Now for the Factoid

While our library is a treasure trove of valuable auto information, it’s also a rich source of factoids — which Merriam-Webster defines as a “briefly stated and usually trivial fact.” We thought a fun way to share some of this content would be to combine a twist of trivia with an interactive component in a brand new blog feature we’re calling “Factoid Friday.” We’ll turn some of the iconic pieces of automotive fact and history from the Mitchell 1 Library into a little guessing game. And just to keep things interesting, we’ll even award a prize!

For this first Factoid Friday post, we’re taking a tiny step back in time, to the 2013 Mazda 3 Workshop Manual. The printed version takes up three large volumes plus the wiring diagrams, as seen below. And here’s the question:

What is the total weight (in pounds/ounces) of all 3 manuals plus the wiring diagrams?

2013 Mazda 3 Workshop Manual

Hint: It’s a lot heavier than accessing the same information in ProDemand on your tablet! Whoever has the closest answer will win a $25 Amazon.com gift card. Deadline to answer is midnight (PST) on Friday, June 20, 2014. You only get one guess, so make it a good one. In the case of a tie, whoever submitted their answer first will receive the prize. We will provide the answer and announce the winner right here in a future blog post, so stay tuned!

Submit your answer below in the “Leave a Comment” section. (By entering, you agree to have your name published if you have the winning guess. Your contact information will not be published, and will only be used to contact you to arrange for delivery of the prize. Mitchell 1 and Snap-on employees, contractors and their families are welcome to participate, but are not eligible to win the prize. Void where prohibited.) Good luck!
