They say patience is a virtue but when it comes to car repair, patience isn’t always going to cut it even though it would eventually have fixed itself. SureTrack community member Ourfamilygarage had a Dodge Dakota that they repaired for a misfire condition but it wasn’t completely cured. They posed their question to the community, and with the help of fellow community member Skip and others, they were able to resolve the issue quickly.
The following Community Fix summarizes the interaction between members of the community that led to the solution.
2007 Dodge Dakota 3.7L
P0300 misfire on one bank, reset adaptive fuel trims.
Code P0300 after repairs, misfire on one bank.
Diagnostic Steps Performed/Parts Replaced
Customer brought car in with check engine light on. Found code P0300. Replaced spark plugs, coil seals and spring. Old plugs were very worn. Now check engine light flashes when revved up above idle and still has P0300. Using scanner to check misfire, monitor cylinder 1, 3 and 5 and all start missing when revved above 1200 RPM. Checked all coil connections all are clipped in. What could be causing the miss.

Check for long and short term adaptives compared side to side. Possible intake leak on one side. Resetting the adaptives after a repair is good practice. The PCM has compensated as the plug have worn out. It takes a while for it relearn on its own.
