It can be very frustrating when you fix a car and park it in your lot for a couple days and then it won’t start. SureTrack community member kbarnes had a Toyota Camry in their shop that they had fixed a couple issues and parked it in their lot. When they went to move it, it wouldn’t start. They posed the question to the community, and with the help of fellow community member DAG1365 and others, they were able to resolve the issue quickly.

The following Community Fix summarizes the interaction between members of the community that led to the solution.

2001 Toyota Camry LE 2.2L

Hard to start, intake explodes, leaking injectors.

Car won’t start after minor repairs.

Diagnostic Steps Performed/Parts Replaced
Cranks but won’t start. Found blown fuse for injectors. Car started and ran fine and did not find cause of blown fuse. Had car running and alternator belt broke. Replaced belt, car started and still ran fine. Parked car in lot and went out a few days later and it started and died. Checked fuel pressure and found it to be 50 psi. Checked injector pulse and it was good. Checked spark and it was good. Replaced spark plugs while I had them out to check compression. Compression as follows; cylinder #1 125, #2 135, #3 135, #4 125. Checked computer system and found no codes. Checked fuel in tank and it was good. Fuel is getting into cylinders from injectors. What am I missing here.

If you have injector pulse, ignition coil trigger (spark) and good compression, and sure it is in time not off a couple of teeth, have you checked for restricted exhaust?

Timing belt off 4 teeth also found pieces of belt in there more then likely from alternator belt when it broke.

Replaced timing belt and removed debris from belt area. Vehicle starts and runs as it should.
