ProDemand 1Search – OEM and Real Fix Automotive Repair Information

When Mitchell 1 first launched ProDemand® in 2012, it gave auto service professionals an easy-to-use repair information software that returned all the information needed for a job with one lookup. This includes descriptions, locations, procedures, diagrams, specifications, and TSBs as well as our real-world information such as Real Fixes and component test information.

The feature that makes this possible is our advanced search technology called 1Search. This feature brings all the relevant content together, integrating real-world information from professional technicians with OEM specifications and procedures. As a result, techs can spend less time hunting down information and more time fixing cars and delivering great customer service.

Over the years, we have continually upgraded ProDemand to keep up with the ever-evolving auto shop environment. To improve results when searching for symptoms, Mitchell 1 expanded 1Search functionality so that symptoms and components/vehicle systems can be matched together in the same search.

For example, when you search on the term “leak,” you will now find results related to vacuum leaks, brake fluid leaks, coolant leaks, and more. Moreover, you will find these enhanced symptom search results in both OEM information and SureTrack Real Fix content.

  • To enable more precise results when searching on specific terms, we built advanced data analysis capabilities into 1Search. So, when you look up “rear brake caliper,” 1Search returns precise, highly relevant results (with “brake caliper” being the first), so no sorting or scrolling is needed to find the best match. This saves huge amounts of time during lookups.
  • To improve non-standard diagnostic trouble code searches, we tagged non-standard codes, such as the first generation of On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) codes. This also saves time on code search lookups while returning more relevant OEM information.
  • We also made improvements to provide greater visibility of SureTrack Real Fix results. When you perform a 1Search, SureTrack Real Fixes will always be shown on the screen, with the 12 most relevant OEM results displayed. In addition, the results will include a “more” link that allows you to expand the list. That way, you see the best matches first while having the option to conduct further research if needed.
  • Here’s another time-saver: When you navigate to the Estimate Guide Module after conducting a 1Search, your search term is automatically entered into the Estimate Guide and searched. It also keeps you on the page showing the component so you don’t have to enter the same search term in different modules.
