Shop Management: Email setup

How can we email estimates, repair orders, or invoices from the Shop Management software?

Install and configure an email client software on your computer with your email account. We recommend Mozilla Thunderbird or Microsoft Outlook. Once installed, you can then configure the software with your @gmail.com, @yahoo.com, @msn.com, @hotmail, etc., email account. After the email client has been set up, clicking the email button in the Shop Management program will compose and attach a PDF of the EST/RO/INV for you to send to your customer.

Attached are instructions that will help you get your email client installed and configured. Mitchell1 does not support installing or configuring these third-party applications; however, information is readily available online.

See attachment for instructions on how to set up your email client

I have installed Outlook, how do i "Install one of these email clients and link the program to an active email account"?Is this done through the outlook settings, Fine Print settings or Mitchell settings? I downloaded the Fine Print PDF email thing and the estimates are loading on it when I press the fax button (I linked in the fax button for emails)When i attempt to send from the PDF viewer i get "email not configured". I remember years ago when I had outlook I had to mess with the IMAP POP stuff to configure, just not sure what to do, thanks.

We have Outlook installed (not Outlook Express) and we are still unable to send emails INV/EST, etc. from Mitchell Team Works SE. Is there some set-up that needs to be done on the back end? Or do we have to install and configure Outlook Express?

Deanna, Outlook is fine for use with Manager SE. The simplest place to start is with the question "Can you send yourself an email in Outlook?" If the answer is Yes, you should be ready to use it with Manager SE. If not, you still need to configure the email client‘s SMTP and POP3 settings. Your ISP or hosting company (if you have your own domain) should have the information you need to do that.

Albert, our Shop Management V6.5 and higher requires no configuration. It is based on windows MAPI, meaning it simply sends the information to the registered email client.

The customer‘s first name and last name needs to be on the customer tab or the email will fail. If it‘s a business and no first/last name is filled in it won‘t work.

The issue requiring a first and last name for business entries has been resolved in the current release version (6.6.10)

Terry, Yahoo and Gmail are web-based email accounts. You still need an email client to handle mail requests in Windows. There is additional information about setting up Windows Live Mail for these here http://mitchell1.com/knowledgebase/article.php?id=713
