OnDemand Version 5.5 Software Enhancements

Version 5.5 of OnDemand5 contains a number of significant software enhancements, including:

• Color Coded Wiring Diagrams tops the list of exciting new enhancements this release. Using Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG), an exciting new XML-based language for Web graphics, OnDemand5 has made a quantum leap in producing clear, crisp, colorful wiring diagrams. More on Scalable Vector Graphics.

• Search has been greatly improved, allowing for quick searching of headlines or of all Text and Wiring Diagram text. Search results are clearly and consistently highlighted in the Index and Article displays in yellow for quick identification. Each matching Search result is also hyperlinked to the next instance of the Search text and a "Return to Search" link allows you to quickly return to search from the Article Screen. "Fuzziness" has also been added to Search, allowing for commonly misspelled words and synonyms to appear in Searches.

• Maintenance Information is now presented in Time, Mileage (Miles and KM) as well as Indicator Light intervals as required by the specific manufacturers.

• A redesigned User Interface has been developed, including a new Home Page, larger new icons, and a number of enhancements designed to make the program easier to learn and use.

• Installation has been greatly simplified, requiring far fewer steps than the old process. The Data Update and Add Data processes have also been simplified, with significantly fewer steps.

• Expanded Repair History - Repair History has been expanded from the last 10 lookups to the last 50 on the Vehicle screen. This saves you time in reaccessing repair articles.

• The increase in Estimator information has necessitated expansion to two Estimator CDs. Most users will want to copy the Estimator information to their hard drives, the installation default, eliminating the need for disc swapping.

• Quotes has been greatly improved, with the ability to add Flat Rate labor to a quote. Also, recalculation is now automatic as soon as you make entries or changes, without telling the program to recalculate. The grid has also been cleaned up with clearer data entry boxes and more selection lists to simplify data entry.

• The Module Tabs have been moved to the left side of the display and the Mitchell 1 Logo to the right. The Mitchell 1 logo now hyperlinks to the Home page in keeping with browser-based design trends.

• Printable Version windows have been added to Estimator, Maintenance, and Fluids, providing printer-ready pages of your selections in these modules.

• The TSB Filtering Process has been improved and simplified to allow for quicker access to TSBs.

• Product Version information has been added to the Status bar. You can now see what version software you have without going into Help.

• New Icons - Annotate, Print, Training Video, and Help icons have been added to the global navigation. Tool Tips have been updated for the icons... just hold your mouse pointer over any icon for a second for a quick description of its function.

• Training Videos are automatically copied to your hard drive during installation, eliminating the need to swap CD/DVDs to run them. All new Training Videos have been developed for this release and an icon has been added to the toolbar to get right to the Training Video list.

• General Estimating Information has been added to the Estimator section of this help file. Choose Estimator/General Estimating Info from the Help Table of Contents. Topics exist for Machine Operations, How to Write an Estimate, and Diagnostic Labor Times.

In addition to these visible changes, a number of behind-the-scenes enhancements have been made to the OnDemand5 software to allow the program to run faster and process information more efficiently.
